A New Favorite: Crispy Air Fried French Toast Sticks

Instead of skillet frying or deep fat frying your French toast, how about an alternative that is both healthier and doesn’t leave you feeling greasy after consuming. If you don’t have an air fryer, you can still use the same recipe and cook them in the oven, it will just take longer.

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices white bread, cut in thirds $0.50
  • 2 eggs $0.31
  • 1/4 cup milk $0.07
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract $0.43
  • 1 Tablespoon maple syrup $0.28
  • 3 Tablespoons granulated sugar $0.05
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon $0.06
  • Cooking spray $0.02
  • Maple syrup, for serving $1.13
Total:  $2.86

Preparation:

  1. Cut the 4 slices of white bread into thirds and set aside.
  2. Combine the eggs, milk, vanilla and maple syrup and whisk together
  3. Preheat your Air Fryer to 350°
  4. Dip the bread slices into the egg mixture and spray with cooking spray
  5. Place each slice into the preheated Air Fryer
  6. Cook for 10 minutes at 350°
  7. While the French toast sticks are cooking, combine the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl
  8. Take out the French toast sticks when they are crunchy to your liking and coat them with the cinnamon/sugar coating.
  9. Serve with the maple syrup
