Can You Find Amazing American Food in Cancun

Attached to our resort in Cancun is the Champions Sports Bar. We fully believe in traveling to a location and trying the local food, but since Cancun is a very touristy town, it’s hard to find local cuisine so we decided to try this restaurant attached to our resort.

The Video Review

Since it’s a bad idea to drink tap water in Mexico for travelers from the US, we decided to start ourselves off with a series of mocktails and tropical drinks. They were all as described and a good start and a compliment to the rest of the meals.

The spinach artichoke dip came warm to the table with very crunchy chips. A slight disappointment when compared to artichoke dips that can be made in America or bought in an American store.

The Buffalo Chicken salad was quite the delight. We aren’t fans of blue cheese, but the Buffalo chicken was crispy and without bones. Worked well with the other ingredients in the salad.

I’m not a big fan of fish and chips, so I was surprised when the lightly battered, crispy fish were right up my alley. I could absolutely go for this dish again. The fresh flaky fish was better than most of the fish I have gotten in the States and a slight crisp made it wonderful in flavor.

The bacon cheeseburger was your standard burger fare that you can get in almost any restaurant in America. Didn’t stand out as one of the best, but it certainly wasn’t one of the worst burgers I’ve had in my life. It’s a doable option, but for a better alternative go for the

Steak Penne Pasta. Now there is a dish to write home about. Sure you can probably get the same dish in the states, but the steak was well cooked and the past had a creamy sauce that mixed well with the beef and the pasta. A tasty delight and easily my favorite dish for the night.
