There is no substitute for a fresh loaf of bread. The outside is often crispy while the inside is deliciously soft and dissolves in your mouth. But with a loaf so big, what can you do with it so that it will last or how can you modify it to make it easily shared amongst a large crowd of people? One way is to take the loaf and make the best garlic bread with it. Don’t forget that you can save the leftovers and reheat them for a second or even third round of garlicky goodness.

Ingredients:

  • 1 French Loaf $3.51
  • 6 Tbsp Butter $0.69
  • 4 Cloves Garlic $0.11
  • 2 Tbsp Grated Parmesan Cheese $0.15
  • 1 tsp dried Basil $0.54

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°
  2. Soften the butter
  3. Crush the garlic
  4. Combine the softened butter with the garlic and parmesan cheese. Mix well
  5. Slice the loaf lengthwise
  6. Spread the butter mixture on the bread.
  7. Sprinkle the dried basil on the loaf
  8. Bake the bread for 8 minutes
  9. Turn the oven to broil and toast for up to 1 more minute
  10. Slice into 1″ thick slices.
