Are you afraid to buy the best cuts of meat because you fear that you will fail to cook the meat properly or to the doneness that you desire? Well do I have the kitchen gadget for you. It is this new Meater Pro Bluetooth Wireless Meat Thermometer. I first saw it on Amazon and thought to myself, “that looks interesting.” So I put it on my wish list and received it as a Christmas present. Eager to try it out, I used it that very same day when cooking a prime rib roast.
I have used many a meat thermometer before, analog and digital. They have always been the best tool for me to determine how close the meat I am preparing in the oven, over a grill or in a skillet is properly done. But this thermometer took cooking steak, rotisserie meats, chicken, roasts, turkey and other meats to a hole new level. It’s simple app is what takes this Meater Pro Bluetooth Wireless Meat Thermometer above and beyond any meat thermometer on the market.
You see, when I’ve used other thermometers, I have to constantly walk to the cooking meat and check the thermometer. If the meat is in an oven, then I’m opening the oven (which releases heat) just to see how close to done my meat is. There is always the possibility that I miss time my checking and the meat is past done where I want it. But with this app, it not only gives you the temperature of the meat on your phone, but it also gives you an estimated time until the meat is done to your liking. This changes how I run my kitchen as now I have a much better estimate when the meat will be done and can time the side dishes, like mashed potatoes,
The one caveat I have for the app though, is that when I put the thermometer in the meat and then went upstairs, my phone no longer could connect to the thermometer. So you can’t just go anywhere around the house while you’re cooking the meat. You still have to be in range.
But the app makes it very simple to know what your meat is doing for the perfect cook, every time. I had been using a sous vide machine to cook as it was my cheat code to get the meat to the correct doneness, but now that I have this meat thermometer, I can go back to the oven and forget the vacuum sealed food. Or maybe, just maybe I now have my next competition cook: sous vide vs. the Meater Pro Bluetooth Wireless Meat Thermometer.
As for the recipe, Steaks are easy to cook. Just use your favorite store-bought seasoning or come up with your own. My family’s favorite is Slap Ya Mama, but it’s just as easy to add salt, pepper and garlic powder for a standard steak flavor. Make sure to add generously for a great flavor, especially on this tomahawk steak as the thicker the steak, the more seasoning you need to taste the flavor.
