Attached to our resort in Cancun is the Mikado Sushi Bar and Japanese Cuisine. We fully believe in traveling to a location and trying the local food, but since Cancun is a very touristy town, it’s hard to find local cuisine so we decided to try this restaurant attached to our resort.
The Video Review
Since it’s a bad idea to drink tap water in Mexico for travelers from the US, we decided to start ourselves off with a pina colada which was quite the tropical treat.
Next we had the mixed tempura and the flavors were quite enjoyable. We were quite surprised by the local addition of crab to the tempura and was a flavorful surprise
For the rolls that we chose, the rolls using the local flavors were better, especially the Caribe Make which had coconut and mango. The California roll was just your standard fare and the Mikado Maki wasn’t anything spectacular to write home about.
The Picante Ramen was quite the show stopper and the star of the meal. The soft boiled eggs along with the jalapeño and steak brought a nice addition to an already wonderful broth.
While this restaurant wasn’t the highlight of our Cancun food adventures, It did not disappoint and we certainly would return for the ramen but not so much the sushi.
