So you’re looking for quick, consistent slices of vegetables, or your want thick or shoestring French fries equally sized for even cooking in your own home from fresh potatoes. Then you’re probably thinking if you get a mandoline, your slices will become as thin as you want and as a bonus they will all be the same size for more consistent cooking, and you would be correct. This is the purpose of a mandoline, to take the error out of knife cutting and make all your cuts the same size. An amateur’s hack, if you will. Well if this is the case, then call me a hacker because I love to use a mandoline to evenly cut my potatoes into French fries that I make in the air fryer in my own home.

And that was the reason why I decided to buy this Mueller Austria Mandoline from Amazon. Well that and the price was right and the reviews said it was one of the best ones you could get from Amazon. Personally, I didn’t need or use the graters or the wavy blade, so I concentrated on using the straight blade for slicing consistent vegetables for stir-fry and soups so that they would cook evenly in their dish and for cutting potatoes into consistently sized strips to be used in my air-fryer to make French Fries.
The Mueller Austria Mandoline does a great job on slicing vegetables consistently and in the shape you desire. It even has one of those food grabbers that works on potatoes and other large vegetables that you want to cut into long slices. For all other vegetables, it was beneficial and reassuring to use cut resistant gloves to protect your hands from the sharp blade that your fingers will get dangerously close to when trying to cut that last piece of carrot.
And if you’re in the market for a mandoline, you can’t go wrong with the Mueller Austria Mandoline. But mine is currently in a cabinet collecting dust as it has been replaced with a Dash Safe Slice Mandoline that will still cut your vegetables consistently with the added bonus that your fingers never get close to the blade. The only down side to the Dash Safe Slice is that it will only cut the size of the vegetables that will fit inside it’s chute.
