After 1 Year of Weekly Use, Does the Remarkable MioMat Still Impress?

After having the MioMat plant based milk maker for over 1 year, do we still use it? Does it still work? The answer is yes and yes. We also have Tayama’s version of the soy milk maker, and the Tayama Soymilk Maker is currently collecting dust in our kitchen. We love the MioMat with it’s quick clean up and great ability to really grind up any nut or bean to make wonderful milks that taste great and once you’ve had these plant based milks enough, you will not find a need to go back to the cow’s milk.

The Video Review

One year later and it’s still producing tasty soy milk, oat milk, cashew milk, almond milk, etc. And nothing is easier than making soy milk with the MioMat. Here’s the simple recipe:

Soy Milk

Ingredients

  • 1 MioMat cup of Dry Soy Beans
  • Enough water to fill up to 1300 mL

Procedure

  1. Place the dry soy beans into a medium sized bowl, fill the bowl with water and soak over night
  2. Drain the beans and place them in the MioMat
  3. Fill the MioMat with cold water up to the 1300 mL line.
  4. Attach the grinding cylinder and close the MioMat
  5. Choose the “Soy Milk” program and select start.
  6. Let the machine cook your soymilk for about 35 minutes
  7. Strain the milk with the included strainer or cheesecloth.
  8. Serve hot or refrigerate to enjoy cold

But the MioMat isn’t just a plant based milk maker. We have also used it plenty of times to create vegan and non vegan fresh and taste homemade soups. One of our favorite soups it to make a creamy mushroom soup. The fresh flavors that you get from the MioMat cannot compare to what you might get in a can, and you can control all the ingredients you put into your soup. Here is the recipe we use for our creamy mushroom soup.

Creamy Mushroom Soup

Ingredients

  • 16 oz chopped Baby Bella mushrooms
  • 1 potato peeled and chopped
  • 1 measuring cup of cashews, soaked for 8 hours
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • vegetable broth or soy milk to fill

Procedure

  1. Put all the ingredients into the MioMat
  2. Pour the vegetable broth/soy milk between the 1100 mL and 1300 mL lines inside
  3. Do NOT put on the grinding cylinder and close the machine
  4. Select the chunky soup option and press start
  5. After about 30 minutes, your soup will be hot and ready to dish out
  6. Enjoy
