You may or may not own a rice cooker. But if you don’t, you’re in luck cause your instant pot can become your rice cooker and even make your steamed rice better than you would get from a standard rice cooker. But don’t take my word for it, try it for yourself with this easy to follow steamed rice recipe.

And do not underestimate the kind of rice you use. If you are using anything other than Korean rice or Calrose rice, you are using the wrong type of rice.

Ingredients:

Rice (Korean or Calrose)

  • 1 cup
  • 1 1/2 cups
  • 2 cups
  • 3 cups
  • 4 cups

Water

  • 2/3 cup
  • 1 cup
  • 1 1/3 cups
  • 2 cups
  • 2 2/3 cups

Preparation:

  1. Wash the rice till the water runs clear. I usually rinse and stir it around 3 times in the pressure cooker pot.
  2. Add the required amount of water for the rice amount. Even out the rice best you can.
  3. Set the pressure cooker pot into the pressure cooker and cook on high pressure for 5 minutes.
  4. Let the pot rest for at least 10 minutes.
  5. Release the steam and open the pot when ready to serve.
