Chili is usually a dish that you either set in a crock pot or put it on a stove with a low flame and let it cook for hours so that all the flavors can meld together and make something that taste better than the sum of it’s parts. Well, what if I told you that the flavor will still exist if you cook the chili in 1 hour in a pressure cooker? Would you try it out?
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs Ground Turkey $5.98
- 1 medium onion diced $0.17
- 2 garlic cloves minced $0.06
- 28 oz can diced tomatoes $1.50
- 2 4 oz cans diced green chilis $2.98
- 1 cup water $0.00
- 1 tsp chili powder $0.06
- 2 tsp salt $0.08
- 2 tsp cumin $0.26
- 1 tsp pepper $0.10
- Optional: 1 15oz can of Pinto beans, drained

- Set the pressure cooker to Sauté.
- Add the Ground Turkey (you could also use beef), onions and garlic to the pot and cook till browned
- Drain the meat
- Return the meat to the pot and add chili powder, salt, cumin pepper, can of diced green chilis, can of tomatoes and water to the pot and mix well
- Lock the pressure cooker lid in place and set the steam vent to Sealing. Select Pressure Cook (Manual) and cook for 25 minutes on High pressure.
- Once finished, set the steam vent to Venting to quick-release the pressure.
- Optional: If adding beans, Stir the beans into the chili. Set the pressure cooker to saute and cook for at least 10 minutes to combine the flavors
- Serve with cheese, sour cream, green onions, onions or whatever you like with chili.
